Paris Saint-Germain’s Javier Pastore has admitted to being flattered at being likened to French legend Zinedine Zidane.
It was UEFA President and another French football great Michel Platini who made the comparison, believing much of the Argentine’s play mirrors that of Zizou.
Pastore has been in phenomenal form since his move from Palermo in the summer and was integral to the club’s success over Lyon on Sunday night.
“I’m very flattered that Michel Platini has been comparing me to Zinedine Zidane, because he was a great player.” Pastore told reporters.
“I’m continuing to work in a humble fashion. And it’s true that I didn’t expect to adapt so quickly to football here. I don’t think I’m the best player in Ligue 1 though.”
The man he is being compared to has also had his say on the 22-year-old by praising his ability.
Speaking to Canal Plus, Zidane said:
“He’s a vital player for Paris, since the beginning of the season, he has demonstrated that he was interesting in the game by scoring goals and playing decisive passes. He is good in Paris, it is necessary to let him play.”
