It seems 1970 PSG was bang on the money when it predicted more twists and turns in the pursuit of David Beckham. A number of reports today have linked him with ambassadorial and television roles as part of his potential deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Parisian faithful will be more inclined to witness his trademark free-kicks bulge the back of the nets in the Parc des Princes but Qatar Sports Investments are also looking at other avenues to work in conjunction with his on-field exploits.
L’Equipe has reported that Beckham may be used in an ambassador like role, much like the one Zinedine Zidane has at Real Madrid.
However, the Daily Mail reports a story where the owners will utilise Becks in a completely opposite spectrum by using him on Al Jazeera Sports to promote Ligue 1 football from 2012 onwards.
It is obvious Beckham’s global brand is of mega interest to the capital club and they see endless possibilities to make the most of one of the game’s biggest names.
The Englishman himself has again intimated that he has made no decision on his future and will continue to assess his options.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, he said:
“I have had a lot of offers and I must say that I’m amazed that, at my age, I have had so many. Its been a bit of a surprise.”
“I have to see how my body feels once the play-offs are over, but I love it here and there is a real chance I will stay, especially if my family are happy.
“What will actually happen next I still can’t say, but what is very important in the decision in terms of what I do, be it staying here, or going to PSG or wherever, is that I get enough time on the pitch because I want to be part of the Olympics.”
1970 PSG will keep you continiosully updated with this transfer saga in the weeks ahead.
