Kombouare’s Thoughts Ahead Of Bratislava Clash

PSG Coach Antoine Kombouare gave his thoughts on tonight’s Europa League game against Slovan Bratislava in an interview with France Football.

The 47-year-old said his team will respect the Slovaks, whilst hinting at possible changes to his team selection.

Tony, what do you know of Slovan Bratislava?

“It is a great team. They made the preliminary round of the Europa League and they qualified brilliantly against Roma. They have very good players, like Dobrotka, Guede, Bagayoko, Milinkovic and Sebo who I know particularly well since I brought him from Scotland to Valenciennes (When Kombouare was Coach). This is a guy with a great mentality. I know that tomorrow he will be particularly motivated.”

After the defeat in Bilbao, is first place still the objective?

“We lost the last game and it was a disappointment. We want to forge ahead but the goal is to qualify. Finish first, it would be a bonus. We must respect the opponents. Even if we are first in Ligue 1, we are under construction, there are players who need playing time. I’m still working to find out what are the weaknesses and strengths of my group. The team needs to improve.”

Players are regularly injured and suspended…

“This is a big concern. I cannot name the same team twice. I want everyone to be there, there is more competition.”

You will face a small club in a small stadium. Is this easy to manage?

“We always respect our opponents. Ajaccio, we faced Sunday, was 18th. It was difficult conditions, with a pitch not very practical, but we were heavily favoured. We stayed serious and professional. Here, we expect a tough opponent and we know it will take a great result for PSG.”
