Whenever director of football Leonardo meets with a major football persona – in the form of a player or Coach – the general assumption is that he is looking to lure them to the Parc des Princes. However, according to the man himself this is simply not the case.
After meeting Carlo Ancelotti last week, reports swept through France that he and QSI were preparing a deal for him to replace Antoine Kombouare for next season – or possibly sooner. Although the pair did meet in the French capital, Leo insists that the rendezvous was nothing more than a general exercise in gaining another contact for PSG to help build the club’s network.
Speaking to L’Equipe, the Brazilian said:
“Ancelotti was in Paris and I met him. I also met Kaka. I meet a lot of people you don’t know about.” he told.
“Nowadays everyone is calling PSG. It is a new situation, but it is good for the club. My job is to talk to everyone, not about hiring, but to build networks. We have to think about the future.”
“I didn’t propose anything to Ancelotti. There has been no offer. Antoine Kombouare knows what the situation is. We have had thousands of talks and everything is very clear.”
