David Beckham has ended the long running saga surrounding his future by snubbing overtures from Paris Saint-Germain in order to remain in the United States with Los Angeles Galaxy.
For weeks, it seemed a foregone conclusion that the Englishman would move to the Parc des Princes with QSI eager to gain his signature as he entered the final weeks of his contract in Major League Soccer. Although Beckham was interested in ending his career in France, it appears the welfare of his family has played a huge part in his decision, deciding against relocating them from their California base as they are settled.
Director of football Leonardo told L’Equipe; “It’s over. It’s a shame. But the welfare of his family in LA, the wish not to change everything in his life, weighed heavily.”
It is now expected that he will sign a one-year contract extension in the States, also giving him special dispensation to participate in this summer’s Olympics with Great Britain.
Meanwhile, France Football reports that the club are preparing bids for Real Madrid’s Kaka and AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato – totalling €61.5m
Details on this are vague, but according to FF, a source has told them that bids will be tabled within the next two weeks.
