Carlo Ancelotti gave his first training session with the Paris Saint-Germain squad yesterday in Doha, as the club prepares for a midseason friendly with Italian heavyweights AC Milan.
Ancelotti had met with the players a day prior at Roissy Airpott back in Paris, wishing everyone a prosperous 2012 under his tenure.
To recover from the six hour flight, the Italian put his players through their paces with some light exercises in the morning, before moving on to more rigorous activities in the afternoon session.
He allowed his staff to undertake training in the morning as he was met by director of football Leonardo and club president Nasser Al-Khelaiffi who observed proceedings. He then became more actively involved with new assistant Claude Makelele in some one touch and two touch passing in the later session at the Aspire complex.
Afterwards, the players and staff were treated to a night at the ATP Qatar Tennis Open, where Leonardo and Al-Khelaiffi were waiting to meet and greet.
Today, there will be another session in the morning before the players depart for Dubai, where tomorrow’s game with the Rossoneri will take place.
Speaking to the club’s Official Site, Captain Mamadou Sakho is relishing the prospect of going toe to toe with one of Europe’s giants; “The game against Milan will be a friendly against some really excellent players. It’s always good to play big teams. And they’re the team I follow in calcio!”
Carlo Ancelotti will be coming up against his former club and he echoed his skipper’s words; “It is rather strange to be playing AC Milan in my first game in charge of PSG. I have many great memories of my time with the Rossoneri and I have a lot of good friends there still.”
Below are some images of the club’s Middle Eastern experience so far.
