Barcelona left-back Maxwell is poised to join Paris Saint-Germain according to Le Parisien and will become Carlo Ancelotti’s first signing for the club.
The Brazilian will sign for the Ligue 1 leaders in the next few days, filling the void left by Siaka Tiene who is on international duty with the Ivory Coast for this month’s African Cup of Nations.
The 30-year-old has found first team prospects in Catalonia minimal this season, only participating in a handful of games. He did however score for the Blaugrana in their FIFA World Club Cup semi-final against Al Sadd last month.
It still remains to be seen if Palermo’s Federico Balzaretti is in line for a move to the club. Maxwell’s arrival does seem to minimise that possibility.
