European and Spanish champions Barcelona have confirmed on their official website that 30-year-old Brazilian full-back Maxwell will indeed move to the Parc des Princes.
In the last few days, talk has been rife between both clubs regarding a possible deal and one has now been struck.
The statement released on the Catalans website read; “FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have come to a preliminary agreement to transfer Maxwell to the French team. The Brazilian will travel to Paris this afternoon (Wednesday) with the Club’s permission, to finalise the details of his new contract with PSG. Once Maxwell and PSG resolve the Brazilian’s contractual details, he will undergo a medical exam and the transfer will become official”.
The club then continued to pay homage to their soon to be former player, highlighting the array of honours he won at the club including a UEFA Champions League.
Blaugrana Coach Pep Guardiola also had his say, thanking the player for his contribution and wishing him all the best for the future; “He told us he had an offer from the PSG, he studied and that he would accept it. It’s a good opportunity for him. I understand his situation, he was offered a good contract in a very large city. If he finds an agreement with the club, I will not oppose his departure. If he leaves, we thank him for everything he did. I wish him the best for the future”.
Maxwell will have his medical at Camp des Loges later on today before putting pen to paper.
