Without doubt one of the greatest defenders in recent history Paolo Maldini, was in attendance at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, overseeing an excellent display by the league leaders in their 3-1 win over Toulouse. Sat in the company of former Milan teammate – and good friend – Leonardo, the 43-year-old was immersed in the action and has certainly taken a liking to the Parisian club.
Director of football Leonardo told Canal Football Club that there is a strong possibility that the five time European Cup winner could become involved within in the club in some sort of capacity. He said; “Maldini has come because he is curious. Could he be integrated into the PSG staff? He is already close to us. His vision of football is really complete. I’m not saying he will work with us. He will calmly sort out his future himself but he will certainly stay close to us”.
Interestingly, Maldini has talked up the possibility himself, stating it was good to be among friends – having played with Leonardo and been coached by Carlo Ancelotti during his time at Milan – almost feeling right at home.
“I was among friends.” he told L’Equipe. “I felt right at home. I always said I was ready to consider any proposals in the world of soccer but I have not offered myself to anyone and I never will.”
It will be interesting to see how this develops but it is certainly an intriguing scenario.
