Mevlut Erding is seeking pastures new after Paris Saint-Germain agreed an €8m deal with fellow Ligue 1 club Rennes.
The Turkish international has only played in a handful of games this season due to the form of Kevin Gameiro keeping him out of the team. Under former Coach Antoine Kombouare, he did not even make a single start during this campaign.
Last week, Rennes Coach Frederic Antonetti confirmed to RMC that he spoke to the player and was awaiting an answer; “I spoke to him on the telephone, he’s thinking things over.” he told. “It’s not easy for him. I want to play him – he would get a completely new start with us.”
The 50-year-old has now been granted his wish and the Turkish international will sign a three and a half year deal with Les Rouges et Noirs.
Erding played a pivotal role in his debut season at the Parc des Princes after moving from Sochaux for €9m,bagging 19 goals in all competitions. He fell 10 short the following year, struggling to work in tandem with fellow front-man Guillaume Hoarau.
New Coach Carlo Ancelotti has now deemed him surplus to requirements with Gameiro and Hoarau ahead of him in the pecking order.
Merci Mevlut and good luck!
