Chelsea defender Alex should complete a €5m move to Paris Saint-Germain later on today.
The 29-year-old has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge since handing in a transfer request back in November. Queens Park Rangers had agreed a deal with The Blues but personal terms have proved to be a stumbling block, paving the way for the PSG to make their move – as revealed by Le Parisien yesterday.
Director of football Leonardo was quizzed by L’Equipe regarding a possible deal – along with Thiago Motta who has been heavily linked with a move to the club – but kept his cards close to his chest. He said; “Thiago Motta and Alex? For both, there is a possibility. But for now, nothing is done”.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti worked with Alex during his two years in charge in England, winning the league and cup double in 2010.
Note: Meanwhile, Leonardo confirmed yesterday that a deal to bring Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez to the club is now dead in the water. He told L’Equipe; “We stopped the negotiations. There was an opportunity, we have studied it and made a good offer but failed to agree. We will not exaggerate in our proposals. So we stop. It’s over”.
