Carlo Ancelotti gave his thoughts ahead of today’s crucial tussle at home to Sochaux in yesterday’s presser.
The Italian reiterated his disappointment at the result in Auxerre last weekend but is confident his players can show a different attitude and pick up all three points this time around; “I’m not going to be angry all week.” he stated. “After the match, I was just being objective: we dropped two points. At this stage of the season, it’s normal to expect us to play our best and we didn’t do that against Auxerre. Against Sochaux, it will be a different match of football. We have trained well this week, we talked about the problems we encountered against Auxerre and I hope the team will show a different attitude on Sunday.”
Carlo also went on to indicate the difficulty his side may face against Eric Hely’s side who are in a good run of form; “I think Sochaux are a team that like to play good football. They may sit back a little defensive against us. Don’t forget that Sochaux have won four of their last six matches. Their results started to turn around when they changed their coach. We need to be very careful in this game.”
Earlier in the week, midfielder Blaise Matuidi told the club’s Official Site that the remaining six games will be treated as cup finals if Les Parisiens are to capture their first Ligue 1 title in 18 years. The Frenchman said; “It’s crucial. It’s true that the game against Auxerre was massively disappointing. But we still pulled one point back on Montpellier. We didn’t lose. We’re going to get back to work and try and win Sunday’s match which is another very important game. There are six games left, six finals. We know it.”
