Midfielder Marco Verratti landed in Paris last night to complete his €11m move to the club from Italian minnows Pescara.
After weeks of negotiations, the two parties have finally reached an agreement and the 19-year-old Italian prodigy will undergo a medical today before putting pen to paper.
Upon his arrival he told SKY Sport Italia; “I can’t wait to begin. It was an opportunity I could not pass up. I’m excited, because I’m going to play with champions whom I only saw on television. I have Pescara in my heart, I’ll be back as soon as possible. This is an opportunity which I could not pass up. Ancelotti is one of the greatest coaches in the world and I am very happy to join his group and to work with him.”
Director of football Leonardo left the Par des Princes last night and told awaiting reporters that “Tuesday will be an important day”. Verratti will wrap up his move today and talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic will also continue. Whether or not a deal can be struck for the Swedish superstar today as well remains to be seen but Leo is sticking true to his word.
The signing of Verratti however is a real coup for Les Parisiens. He is highly thought of back in Italy and the club had to usher away interest from Scudetto winners Juventus to get their man.
