The surprising news emanating from Le Parisien yesterday regarded Serbian stalwart Milan Bisevac who looks set for a move to Olympique Lyonnais. This has been on the cards for a while now but the most intriguing factor is the arrival of Anthony Reveillere in the opposite direction.
Lyon will pay €2.5m for Bisevac with 32-year-old Reveillere also being used a makeweight in the deal. The more you analyse it, you can see why PSG are doing it. The club currently have their four-non EU spots occupied, with Bisevac being one. With the arrival of Lucas in January, one of those needed to be freed and it is Bisevac who is the one to depart. He had been seeking to acquire a French passport but it appears the club are not prepared to wait.
Revillere being a native of France, heavily experienced and an accomplished right-back makes a decent signing for Les Parisiens. Bisevac would have been vying for the right-back slot with Christophe Jallet, having played their on numerous occasions last season. With so much competition at centre-back, it would have been difficult for him to dislodge the likes of Alex, Thiago Silva and Mamadou Sakho for one of those two central positions. Right-back was his only viable chance really of getting into the team but Jallet has made it his own after a sterling 2011/2012 campaign.
It is a shame to see such a valiant individual depart the club. He put in a number of impressive displays last season for the club and he will be fondly remembered. However, with so much competition his chances of getting into the team on a regular basis looked minimal.
Lyon have been searching for a centre-back all summer and their coach Remi Garde confirmed yesterday the deal is on the cards.
