Paris Saint-Germain learned their fate in today’s UEFA Champions League draw and will be happy with the outcome.
The cries of anguish were heard across the auditorium as Les Parisiens missed out on being drawn in Group D with Manchester City and Real Madrid which would have been a mouth watering prospect. Instead – the club back in the hat for the first time in seven years – was drawn in Group A with FC Porto (Portugal), Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine) and Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia).
It is a more than favourable draw, avoiding some of Europe’s heavyweights such as Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Draw in full:
Group A: FC Porto, Dynamo Kiev, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN, Dinamo Zagreb
Group B: Arsenal, Schalke, Olympiakos, Montpellier
Group C: AC Milan, Zenit St Petersburg, Anderlecht, Malaga
Group D: Real Madrid, Manchester City, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund
Group E: Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, Nordsjaelland
Group F: Bayern Munich, Valencia, Lille, BATE Borisov
Group G: Barcelona, Benfica, Spartak Moscow, Celtic
Group H: Manchester United, Braga, Galatasaray, CFR Cluj
There is a feeling that PSG are finally back in the sense as they accompanied some of the gala stars and entities of European football in Monte Carlo for the draw.
The tournament begins in two weeks time. Details of the fixtures will be on site soon.
