Guillaume Hoarau looks set to be the first Paris Saint-Germain player to be sold this month after he left the club’s winter training camp yesterday.
The Frenchman left Qatar to head back to Paris after coach Carlo Ancleotti had said earlier in the day; “He is talking with another team, but there is nothing official.”
That was later followed up by assistant sporting director Olivier Letang confirming the player’s departure from the camp; “Guillaume has gone back to Paris, I will say no more.”
Where exactly Hoarau is going remains a mystery. It is widely reported that clubs in the Premier League such as Everton and Sunderland had been in touch but it turns out that there may be an offer on the table from an unnamed Chinese club.
It is the end of the road for one of the club’s most likeable players. He has always been endeared to by the fans but plagued by injury at the start of last season and having to play a menial part behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kevin Gameiro has led to this inevitable conclusion.
It will set the ball rolling now with Nene, Siaka Tiene, Diego Lugano and possibly Momo Sissoko all on their way out.
