It is the news Paris Saint-Germain supporters have wanted to hear for so long. Blaise Matuidi has finally signed his new contract at the club to quash any lingering rumours that he may be heading elsewhere.
The Frenchman has signed until 2018 the club confirmed on Wednesday. Apparently, everything had been agreed for some time but due to a legal wrangle between Matuidi and his former agent, nothing could be officially signed.
But, you can sense the relief that pen has finally been put to paper. He is undoubtedly one of the most important members of the team. The trio of he, Thiago Motta and little Marco Verratti has been formidable this season. It can be argued that there is not a better midfield in Europe.
Blaise’s words said it all. He told the club’s Official Site: “I was determined to continue the adventure with Paris Saint-Germain. The club’s limitless ambition is unequalled in Europe. Together, we will continue to dream bigger”.
Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi says it is good news for France that a Ligue 1 club has kept one of the country’s best players on home soil.
Make no bones about it this is a significant statement from the club. With Motta signing just last week and now Matuidi, it ensures more stability to a team that is capable of achieving greater things.
