Tottenham Hotspur should complete the loan signing of Adrien Rabiot imminently according to Le Parisien.
The 19-year-old is expected to move to North London on a six-month deal with no option to buy – having recently signed a new contract at the club. Spurs see the Frenchman as an ideal replacement for Nabil Bentaleb who will be departing for the African Cup of Nations with Algeria. Also, with doubts over the future of Paulinho who looks set to depart White Hart Lane, they lack cover in central midfield.
Ultimately, Laurent Blanc will have the final decision. But, the coach will be keen for the player to get some playing time and having played in the Premier League himself, he will be under no illusion that this will be a good move for him.
The head of recruitment at Spurs, Paul Mitchell, is the main antagonist behind the deal and sees Rabiot as a priority signing this window.
If the deal goes ahead, it ultimately means Yohan Cabaye will have a bigger part to play for the rest of the season. He had a good winter break having netted the winner against Internazionale and has recovered from his injury.
