Thiago Motta returned to the starting-XI last night and played a key role in our valiant 1-0 victory away to Saint-Etienne. Despite one jittery moment where he gave the ball away in midfield which nearly resulted in a goal, the Azzurri international had a steady game. Afterwards, he broke his silence on the recent doubts regarding his future.
Foot Mercato posed the question to him about a possible departure. He has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan in recent weeks as well as a potential move to England. He has been unhappy with recent criticism in the press and particularly by not receiving public support from the club over this. His wages are also an issue as he feels that he is being underpaid in comparison to other platers at the football club.
Nevertheless, he set the record straight by saying his sole concern now – and always has been since signing in 2012 – is Paris Saint-Germain. He said he spoke to the club officials and revealed that he will stay.
For the time being at least that is good news! He has been fundamental to our success in the last few years. In the summer though? Who knows. He may seek to move and I am sure rumours will continue to fester.
