Kevin Trapp has completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain today and signed a five-year contract. The former Eintracht Frankfurt stopper who has turned 25 today has moved for a fee believed to be around €8-10m.

He underwent a successful medical yesterday before putting pen to paper earlier today. He has now linked up with the squad in Austria for pre-season training.

Trapp gave his thoughts to PSG TV upon signing and said; “Why sign for PSG? Many reasons! When I learned that PSG was interested in me, I thought it was one of the biggest clubs in the world. This is a very big club. I want to win titles and I am very happy. This is a great opportunity for me”.

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi gave his new recruit a glowing appraisal. He told the club’s official site; “We are sure that his qualities will strengthen the Club. I had many exchanges regarding Kevin in the few last weeks with our sport management. He is known to be a very complete goalkeeper who is very strong in the air and who has excellent reflexes on the goal line. He has shown in the German League very strong mental qualities. For sure, our fans will love him”.

Nasser also insisted that Salvatore Sirigu understands the signing of Trapp to give him healthy competition. But it will be interesting to see where this does leave the Italian and Nicolas Douchez. Who will be number 1 come the start of the season?
