Just like back in January, Thiago Motta is eager to leave Paris Saint-Germain. This time however there seems to be no turning back with the player publically declaring his intention.
In an interview with Italian sports daily La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Motta said; “I get the impression that a cycle is coming to an end for me. I have given and received so much. It would be more comfortable to stay, but I wouldn’t be honest with myself, nor the club, which I have grown to love. It’s not a question of money but of motivation.”
He then talked up the possibility of re-joining Internazionale, whom we signed him from in January 2012. TM said; “I spent three-and-a-half years there, but it seems a lot more to me. I think I have given everything by now. Returning to Inter would be a real challenge, as Mancini has shown with his choice to join the club again at a delicate moment. It would be stimulating but also natural to rediscover a place where I won everything.”
Motta was not done there as he also hinted at a move to another former club, Atletico Madrid; “Atletico is the same story as Inter. They are fighting at the summit of European and Spanish football, which isn’t easy when you have Real Madrid and Barcelona as rivals. For me it would be just as motivating and I would give everything to do what I couldn’t manage to do the first time round because of injuries.”
It is a clear statement of intent from Motta who clearly seeks a move away from the club. It is a shame as it seemed as if this was dealt with earlier in the year but the player says he wants to leave for personal reasons.
Where PSG stand on this will be interesting.
