Yes, it is complete! It has been long, tedious and a little unbearable at times but Angel di Maria has finally signed for Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine has penned a four-year contract till the summer of 2019.
The fee is undisclosed at this time but is believed to be in the region of around €63m. It has been practically a year in the making this deal. Financial Fair Play restrictions meant that the move could not materialise and instead the Argentine headed for Manchester United from Real Madrid. However, 12 months on Les Parisiens have finally secured the services of the man who played an integral role in Madrid achieving ‘La Decima’.
Di Maria told the club’s official site; “I am very proud, and can’t wait, to wear the colours of Paris Saint-Germain. I want to win every competition we enter, both in France and Europe. I want to win the Champions League, which is a dream for all footballers, for a second time. We will do everything we can to bring Europe’s biggest trophy to France and the fans of Paris Saint-Germain.”
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is buoyed by the deal; “We are very proud that Angel Di Maria has chosen Paris Saint-Germain” Nasser explained. “He is an incredibly talented player, with a frightening speed and ability to beat opposition players. He adds his name to the club’s strong South American community and, above all, the big Paris Saint-Germain family. By signing Angel Di Maria, Paris Saint-Germain is once again showing the club’s constant ambition to reach the summits of the European game.”
Di Maria will be presented to the emdia later today at 18:30pm French time.
