Merry Xmas From The Record Breaking Champions Elect

Unbeaten, 19-points clear at the top, champions elect, breaking records and deemed as favourites to overcome Chelsea in the last-16 of the Champions League, it is safe to say that the first-half to the season has been nothing short of stunning. The team, coach and fans can take enormous delight at what has transpired so far and it only bodes well for a fabulous 2016.

Last season was incredible with the domestic quadruple and in all honesty, who will bet against us matching that feat again? The Trophee des Champions is in the bag, the league title is already sewn up – bar the mother of all capitulations – and we are already in the last-eight of a domestic cup. The big challenge will of course come in Europe. Can we go one better and reach the last-four after three successive quarter-finals? It will be a huge achievement but even though we will be facing a Chelsea team that is in disarray following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, form can change by the time February swings around.

The 3-0 win away to Caen at the weekend just solidified our charge of reclaiming the title for a fourth year on the trot. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s red hot streak continued with a thunderbolt and Angel di Maria bagged himself a brace. It’s been a good few weeks for the Argentine who has now netted six league goals and accumulated nine assists.

The victory broke yet more records. We have acquired 51 points after 19 games! No team in France has ever breached the 50 point mark at the half-way point of the season. It is an unprecedented feat by Les Parisiens who also beat Lyon’s record of 49 points at this point in the campaign.

The unbeaten run continues which now stretches to 28 league games, another club record, beating the previous one set in April 1994 by that great PSG side.

Paris Saint-Germain remain the only unbeaten team in the top five leagues across Europe. The win over Caen signed us off for the winter break in style and with a near 20-point lead at the top ahead of second-placed Monaco, it is by no means arrogant to say that PSG have wrapped up the title already…and it is not even the New Year!
