Champions: The Reaction!

Champions: The Reaction!

What an unbelievable Sunday afternoon. Winning a league title is always special – whether it was inevitable or not – but to do it in the fashion we did against Troyes is phenomenal. We registered our highest ever league victory by thumping lowly Troyes 0-9 away from home and it could have been even more!

Four straight league titles, six in total and we are now level with Olympique de Marseille as France’s most decorated club. The triumph yesterday is our 28th major honour. And for a club that’s in its infancy, just 46-years, is startling really.

Here is the best reaction from one of the most beautiful days in the club’s history.

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi (as quoted by the club’s official site); “With this fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title, the sixth in the club’s history, Paris Saint-Germain has written itself a little further into the history of French football. I would like to congratulate the players, who have been fantastic since the start of the season, as well as Laurent Blanc and his coaching staff and everyone who walks daily for our club to help it grow. I also have a special thought for Ezequiel Lavezzi who left us for a new adventure recently, but remains in our hearts. I would also especially like to thank our supporters in Paris, in France and around the world. The passion and confidence gives us a lot of strength and energy. Again today, we could see our supporters, their pride and passion, here at the ground. I want them to know that we will continue to give everything until the end of the season to try and win all the domestic trophies and of course, our great dream, the Champions League. Once again, I thank everyone. Together, we will continue to carry colours of Paris Saint-Germain higher and higher!”

Coach Laurent Blanc (as quoted by the club’s official site); “We really got the job done, especially in the second half. There are lots of people who will have something to say about what we have achieved this season. My players have been very professional, right from the first league match, which has yielded countless points and wins. And the title after 30 matches. Now we’ll be able to comfortably rotate the squad and rest some players. The toughest thing will be to play another month’s worth of competition, knowing that our season isn’t over yet. But it leaves us the luxury of being able to rest certain players for league matches. We won’t be neglecting our league duties though, we’ll be taking them as seriously as possible. We’ll try to make it to the finals of both domestic cups and we’ll do all we can to go as far as possible in the Champions League. We’ll just have to make the best of whatever tie we’re handed in the draw.”

Thiago Silva (as quoted by the club’s official site); “We need to continue like this. Our mentality is to always go for the win, while respecting the other teams. We just need to respect our opponents and play our game.”

David Luiz (as quoted by the club’s official site); “We’re very happy. It’s a pleasure to play for this team. I’m a lucky guy; I’m doing the job I love, I’m enjoying myself and I play for a big club. I think Paris is an amazing place, and I’m very happy to play here. I love Paris, I love the club and I love the city.”
