Ask any Paris Saint-Germain fan who they want to avoid and I can guarantee you will get near enough the same answer every time. But, out of curiosity I ran two polls on Twitter asking supporters who they don’t want to face in today’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw.
The results are of no surprise.
Atletico Madrid: 4%
Bayern Munich: 9%
Manchester City: 11%
Real Madrid: 78%
The results are conclusive. Barcelona and Real Madrid – two teams we know all too well – are the two that the Parisians want to avoid. And for good reason!
Real inflicted one of the two defeats we have sustained this season and Barcelona have knocked us out the competition at this stage twice in the past four years (not to mention a group-stage defeat which sealed top-spot at our expense last season).
Barca would go onto win the whole thing last year. They are without question the best football team in the world at present. That front trio of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi is as good as anything that this tournament has ever seen.
Blaise Matuidi summed it up in an interview with Le Parisien on Wednesday when asked who he’d like to face. BM simply responded; “I’m tired of Barça (smiles). They are on another planet.”
