For a while now some PSG supporters have been calling for Laurent Blanc to partner Marquinhos in the centre of defence alongside Thiago Silva on a long-term basis. David Luiz, when fit, will always be at the top of the pecking order ahead of his fellow young Brazilian and having cost the club near enough £50m, it is no surprise. However, following a mistake in the 0-2 loss at home to Monaco, is it now time for a change?
I begged the question on Twitter and the results are pretty conclusive.
Who should be Thiago Silva’s partner at centre-back?
David Luiz: 36%
The former Roma man is vastly popular with the Parisian support. Very rarely flustered, does his job to a tee. He is a fantastic defender but his lack of playing time in his favoured position may make him think twice this summer. He would certainly not be short of suitors with the likes of Barcelona and the two Manchester clubs incessantly linked. He has been filling in at right-back as of late due to Serge Aurier’s punishment which has left Gregory Van der Wiel as our only senior right-back.
