Another weekend, another win and another record for Paris Saint-Germain. This incredible side now beholds the all time Ligue 1 points tally with 92 thanks to a resounding 4-0 win away at Gazalec Ajaccio.

It is yet another feather in the cap for Laurent Blanc and his men. Edinson Cavani’s hat-trick and a strike from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in stoppage time ensured a fifth straight league victory. Not only that, Cavani has hit 19 goals in Parisian blue, which is his best total in a season for the club. And Zlatan is just two goals shy of Carlos Bianchi’s record of 37 in a single league campaign. The Argentine’s achievement has been intact for nearly four decades and the big man is on the cusp of breaking it with two league games to go!

Saturday’s win was complemented by our dominance in the annual UNFP Ligue 1 awards. Zlatan, to no surprise, picked up the Player of the Year award and Laurent Blanc scooped the prize in the coach’s category. Both have now picked up the respective awards three times!

Les Parisiens also dominated the Team of the Year. There was one or two surprises, particularly the inclusion of Marco Verratti who has been plagued by injury all season. Serge Aurier also made the cut despite his inflammatory remarks back in February that incurred a breach of club discipline. The XI is chosen as a result of voting by the players.

UNFP Ligue 1 Team of the Year:

Steve Mandanda (Marseille)

Serge Aurier (Paris Saint-Germain)Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain)David Luiz (Paris Saint-Germain)Maxwell (Paris Saint-Germain)

Marco Verratti (Paris Saint-Germain), Lassana Diarra (Marseille), Blaise Matuidi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Angel Di Maria (Paris Saint-Germain), Hatem Ben Arfa (Nice), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain).

Meanwhile, Zlatan is still very much keeping the cards close to his chest regarding his future. He hinted at a possible return to Milan during the awards ceremony on Sunday but we have heard these comments before. The club itself and coach Laurent Blanc are keen to tie him down to a one year contract but we will have to wait and see.

Ibra is going to keep us guessing!
